Applicants and card holders in the blue card system, including exemption card holders, have certain rights afforded to them under the Commission's Act. These include:
A fair and just process
The Commission is committed to ensuring the fairness of the blue card application process and to ensuring that ‘natural justice’ is followed. This means if the Commission receives information which raises concern about an applicant's background or criminal history it will:
Having your say
If there is police or disciplinary information about an applicant or card holder that the Commission considers relevant to the individual's eligibility to work with children, the applicant or card holder will be invited to make a submission in support of their application.

Withdrawing your application
Applicants may request that the Commission withdraw their application during the processing stage.
This can be done by contacting the Commission in writing or by calling the Blue Card Contact Centre.

You have the right to request the cancellation of your blue card or exemption card by completing the appropriate form. In cancelling your card you must:

Using your blue card for more than one organisation or role
Paid employees and business operators...
Paid employees and business operators are able to use their blue cards or exemption cards for other regulated child-related work that they may undertake, such as additional volunteer work and do not have to pay for an additional blue card.
You must advise the Commission of any additional regulated child-related employment that you undertake by submitting the appropriate form.

Volunteers and trainee students...
Volunteers are able to use their volunteer (V) blue card for any additional unpaid regulated child-related activities, such as volunteering at another organisation.
You must advise the Commission of any additional regulated child-related employment that you undertake by lodging an 'Authorisation to confirm a valid card' form.
If a person holds a volunteer blue card and proposes to enter into paid employment, they must transfer their blue card and pay the prescribed fee.
